What chiropractors miss in New York

Can a chiropractor licensed in another state get a New York license by endorsement?

Endorsement applicants need NBCE Parts I and II plus either Parts III and IV or a state clinical competency exam attested on Form 3, and two licensed colleagues attesting to 2 years of practice in the last 5. Without a hands-on state exam, SPEC plus 7 of the last 10 years of practice is the route.

  • Endorsement route available
  • 2 years of practice required

Which exams does New York require?

NBCE Parts I, II, III and IV, with transcripts sent by NBCE; the Physiotherapy subject is not required. A DC licensed elsewhere who has Parts III and IV can be licensed by examination instead of endorsement and skip the practice-experience forms. SPEC applies only on the endorsement path described above.

  • NBCE Parts I–IV
  • No state jurisprudence exam
  • SPEC for some applicants

How often does a New York chiropractic license renew?

Registration renews every three years with 36 contact hours of approved CE per period, prorated at one hour per month for a shorter period. New licensees by exam are exempt for their first period; licensees by endorsement are not.

  • Renews every 3 years
  • 36 CE hours per cycle
